Angle limiters
Use to restrict the range of motion regarding flexion and extension of the legs. To adjust the range of movement, press the stops outwards and set the limiters as recommended by the physician.
Secure the angle by clicking the stops into position. (Adjust both sides symmetrically).
Basic setting:
Upper stop 9 (approx. 90°)
Note: The numbers on the angle limiters are only hinting towards the position of the knee. Accurate angles must be measured on the patient's knee.
Unlocking the sliding device
When activating the slider release mechanism, sliders can be adjusted to the length of the patient's legs.
Basic setting:
Press the "banana-shaped button" and move the sliders into the desired postion.
Release the "banana-shaped button"
Flexion/extension support
Use to address either flexion or extension deficits. The further the leg shell is positioned in the flexion direction, the greater the support for flexing the leg, and thus the greater the activation of the quadriceps muscle for extension.
The further the splint is pushed in the extension direction, the greater the extension support.
(Adjust both sides symmetrically)
Basic setting:
Position 0
Varus/valgus locking mechanism
Allows for locking of the leg shells in varus/valgus direction. Locking is recommended only in the case of patients with a poor physical constitution.
Basic setting:
Free natural movement of the knee to promote
proprioception.
Rotating button not used - the shell remains mobile. |
Ankle joint extension resistance
Changes the resistance against extension in the ankle joint.
Resistance can be altered by varying the tension on the orange rubber band.
Rubber band in lowest catcher - least resistance
Rubber band in highest catcher - most resistance
Basic setting:
Rubber band inserted in the lowest catcher (least resistance) |
Adjustment towards length of lower leg
The calf shell can be moved lengthways in order to ensure optimal positioning of the lower leg.
Hold the shell firmly on the foot section and slide calf support into desired position.
Resistance adjustment
The device can be set to the desired movement resistance by turning the positioning wheel.
The set value (0-3) can be read in the position indicated.
Basic setting:
0 (no resistance)

Telescopic reinforcement
In order to ensure optimal stability, the device can be set against the end of the bed or a wall using the telescopic reinforcement. |
Removing the shell
To remove the lower leg shell, press the shell unlocking mechanism and take off the shell.
When inserting the shell, it must audibly click into place. |
Pre-adjustment of the CAMOped device
- Open the straps on the leg shells.
- Adjust the angle limiters to accommodate the range of motion for extension/flexion, as directed by the doctor. If no instructions are given, keep basic adjustment (0/ 9). The range of movement is read off between the stops. The same adjustment must be made on either side.
- LCenter the sliding device (see basic positioning on P.6).
- Adjust the extension/flexion support as directed by the doctor. Set to 2 if no instructions are given.
- Adjust the varus/valgus locking mechanism as instructed by the doctor. Do not lock if no instructions are given.
- Adjust the resistance to movement as directed by the doctor. If no instructions are given, do not use resistance (setting 0).
Positioning of the CAMOped
The patient should be level with the CAMOped device and preferably in the seated position (e.g. on the floor with back against the couch).
- Place the CAMOped between the patient's legs
- Distance between device and patient's crotch 1 to 2 inches
- Unfold the CAMOped legs to stabilize the device
If required:
To increase the stability of the device, use the telescopic reinforcement and set the device against e.g. a wall.
Insert the injured leg
Insert the injured leg in a rather stretched position.
Note!
Check beforehand that the angle limiters are adjusted according to the physician's recommendations and clicked into position.
Otherwise the injured leg can be overstretched.
Insert the healthy leg
The injured leg remains stretched whilst the healthy leg is bent.
Close the straps.
If necessary, adjust to user's leg length by positioning the sliding device:
Press the slider release mechanism ("banana-shaped button") and lift and bend the healthy leg according to the physician's recommendation.
Start the exercise
Option: Resistance can be adjusted (see "Resistance adjustment")
Pre-adjusting movement resistance (not to be done by patient - authorized personnel only)
The resistance settings can be pre-adjusted using a nut (13mm). The device is correctly adjusted when the sliding mechanism can move unhindered in position 0 and gentle resistance is perceptible in position 1.
The brake disc should be changed by a specialist.
Maintenance recommendation: The apparatus should be thoroughly overhauled at least once a year. Your retailer will be pleased go give you information about the service options available (also see service information).
